Governor Jerry Brown and California legislators today introduced two bills that could finally begin to solve the state’s drinking water crisis. The bipartisan and consensus legislation is authored by Democratic Senator Bill Monning and Valley Republican Andy Vidak. An attempt was made earlier in this legislative session to create a fund that would provide safe and affordable water, especially for low income communities. That effort stalled over a disagreement about the fee to be assessed to pay for the drinking water fund. The governor and lawmakers came together on compromise bills that they hope will pass before the end of the 2018 legislative session on August 31st. Vic Bedoian reports from Fresno.
