Central Valley law enforcement officials, convenience store operators, and victim advocates joined Assembly Member Jim Patterson in Fresno Thursday to promote a ballot measure that supporters say will crack down on rising crime in the state. It’s called the Keeping California Safe Initiative and its goal is to revise some of the recently passed ballot propositions in California they say have created a lawless environment. The measure’s proponents are mounting a statewide effort to obtain enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot. They are also looking to gain support from local governments throughout the state. Vic Bedoian reports from Fresno.
