Metropolitan Water District Bids for WaterFix Bailout

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California in Los Angeles is working on a proposal to foot the bill for the state’s controversial water tunnel delivery project in exchange for controlling the delivery of a major volume of the state’s water resources. The so-called WaterFix plan has stalled financially because not enough water districts have bought in to it. Opponents of the project consider the district’s offer a desperation move to bail out a project that they say only pays out 23 cents in benefits for each dollar of cost.
