Lawyers Seek More Court Oversight of Solitary Confinement

Some prisoner rights advocates are calling for another year of court supervision over how California prisons deal with solitary confinement. The new court motion follows a landmark legal settlement that challenged solitary confinement practices as unconstitutional “cruel and unusual punishment.”
