Single Payer Healthcare Passes State Senate Vote

The state Senate has passed a bill that would create a “Medicare for All” style single-payer health system in California. The near-party line vote sends the measure on to the Assembly. Opponents blast the measure as expensive government-run health care with tax hikes. Supporters say the bill will create universal health coverage and reduce costs and inequality in the health care system.
