Legislature Moving to Protect California's Immigrants

Days after President Trump’s immigration executive orders, including one targeting sanctuary cities, California is considering legislation that would bar state and local police and sheriffs from taking part in federal immigration enforcement actions. The measure would also provide “safe havens” for immigrant, such as hospitals, schools and courts. The measure has passed its first hurdle with a vote in the Senate Public Safety Committee.
