Race to Lead National Democratic Party Heats Up

The race for a new head of the national Democratic Party is heating up, with the announcement that Obama’s labor secretary Tom Perez will run for chair of the Democratic National Committee. Perez is entering a race that many see as a fight between establishment democrats and a more liberal wing, represented by Keith Ellison, a Muslim-American congress member whose run for the DNC position is backed by Bernie Sanders.
