A new report by the Environmental Protection Agency concludes that hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, can impact public water resources. The study provides a review of available scientific information about the relationship between fracking activities and drinking water. All of the possible pathways for groundwater contamination from oil wastewater that are cited in the report, currently exist in California. A critic of fracking says the report underscores their calls to ban practice. Pacifica’s Vic Bedoian reports from Fresno.
