Nurses Applaud New Healthcare Workplace Violence Rules

A state board has approved first-in-the-nation rules aimed at preventing workplace violence in healthcare settings. The California Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board met in Oakland, where it unanimously approved regulations to address a growing problem of workplace violence that has led to threats, injuries and even deaths of health care workers. Advocates hope the new rules will set a new standard for other states and the federal government.
