Undocumented immigrant children from low-income families can now enroll for full scope health services in California’s MediCal program. That’s the result of a new landmark California law that makes the state’s health care program for the poor available for children regardless of their immigration status. Health and immigrant rights activists gathered at the state capitol to celebrate their victory, and to push for more reforms to close anti-immigrant provisions of the federal Affordable Care Act, or “Obamacare.” Christopher Martinez reports from Sacramento.
