Immigrant rights advocates won a victory this week when a state assembly panel voted to close a loophole that has allowed federal ICE agents to coordinate with local law enforcement in detaining undocumented immigrants. The TRUTH Act would require local authorities to hold public hearings before adopting a policy of coordination with ICE.
