Drug Sentencing Enhancements Targetted by New Bill

A state senate panel has approved a bill to end sentence enhancements for prior drug convictions. Supporters say it would be a step toward ending a key part of failed “war on drugs” policies, freeing up money for substance abuse treatment and other public safety measures. Opponents say it would be soft on serial drug dealers. Christopher Martinez reports from Sacramento.
