Democratic Assemblymember Richard Bloom wants California to take a stand against the “Boycott Divest and Sanctions” movement. Supporters say the bill fights anti-Semitism and stands with Israel’s right to exist. Opponents say the bill infringes free speech of a movement that opposes Israeli occupation of Palestine and calls for Israel to comply with international human rights law regarding Palestinians. The anti-BDS measure won approval in its first committee hearing. Christopher Martinez reports from Sacramento.
