California community colleges will be looking for a new accrediting body, phasing out the controversial accreditation commission that has drawn increasing fire after its attempts to strip accreditation from the City College of San Francisco. The Community College Board of Governors is putting in place a process to create a new way to accredit community colleges more in line with the accreditation of 4-year universities, saying the current accrediting commission has lost credibility within the system.
