Oakland Proposes New Gun Ordinances

In Oakland, City Councilmembers Dan Kalb and Annie Campbell Washington introduced an ordinance to ban the possession of large-capacity gun magazines, as well as introducing an act requiring the safe storage of firearms in both residences and vehicles. Recently, Oakland muralist Antonio Ramos was murdered with a stolen firearm. With the support of Vice Mayor Rebecca Kaplan and City Attorney Barbara Parker, the ordinances were submitted to Oakland's city council today, and will be voted on in a public safety meeting on December 15th.
