University of California President Janet Napolitano is requesting permission to boost California resident enrollment by ten percent in 2016. It would be the biggest bump in resident enrollment in a decade. The state budget approved in June has allocated an extra 25 million dollars to the University of California if it increased its 2016-2017 enrollment by 5000 California residents. While this spells good news for some, some groups are concerned that the new students will not represent the changing demographics of California.
