Brown Signs Aid in Dying Bill

Governor Jerry Brown has signed a controversial aid-in-dying bill that will let some adults with terminal illness get prescription drugs to end life. The law is modeled after Oregon’s 17-year-old “Death with Dignity Act.” Similar measures in California have failed repeatedly in the legislature and at the ballot box, but the latest version of the bill won approval on the last day of the legislative session.
