SF Bay Area actress and clown Joan “Queenie Moon” Mankin passed away in her San Francisco home on Saturday from frontotemporal dementia and muscular neuron disease. Mankin was one of the first female clowns taking part in the Pickles Family Circus. As an actress she has been a figure in the San Fransisco theater scene for the past forty years performing with the San Francisco Mime Troupe, Lilith Theater, American Conservatory theater, Cal Shakes and many more.
