Coal Divestment Bill Passes Assembly Committee

A bill to make California’s public pension funds divest from the coal industry has passed its first big hurdle in the state Assembly. The measure is the first of its kind in the nation, calling on the nation’s largest public pension funds to drop investments in an industry linked to climate changing pollution.
