Controversial Hospital Sale Splits Union Supporters

Two unions representing health care workers are battling it out over the proposed sale of a non-profit hospital chain to a for profit health care chain. The California Nurses Association is supporting the sale of the near-bankrupt Daughters of Charity hospitals to the for-profit Prime Health Care Services, while the Service Employees International Union United Healthcare West is opposing the move, urging sale instead to a Wall Street hedge fund.
