Voters Approve Sentencing Reform and Democrats for Statewide Offices

Governor Jerry Brown led a Democratic sweep of statewide offices in Tuesday’s elections. He’s vowing to steer a fiscally moderate course in his next term. Voters also approved two ballot measures Brown backed. Voters also approved a criminal justice reform measure, Prop 47, a measure that will reduce prison sentences for drug possession and other non-violent crimes that now will be charged as misdemeanors instead of felonies. Christopher Martinez reports from Sacramento.
