Protestors Mark 69th Hiroshima Anniversary with Die-in at Livermore Nuclear Laboratory

Uncle Sam has failed to disarm. Over one hundred protesters sent that message to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to mark the 69th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima. The Livermore lab maintains almost half of the nuclear weapons systems in the U.S. stockpile. Demonstrators highlighted lawsuits filed this year by the Marshall Islands against the U.S. and eight other nuclear powers for allegedly violating the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The U.S. conducted nearly seventy nuclear tests on the Pacific Island nation during the 1940’s and 50’s. Nick St. Charles filed this report from Livermore.
