Climate change activists are celebrating a major victory with the decision of the World Council of Churches to divest from fossil fuel investments. The fellowship of more than 300 churches representing 590 million people has announced it will phase out its holdings in coal, oil and gas companies, and it’s encouraging its member churches to also consider divesting.
