Yosemite Celebrates 150 Years of Protection and Public Access

In Yosemite today the National Park Service and elected officials along with hundreds of visitors celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Yosemite Grant Act, which created California’s first state park. The act established Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Giant Sequoia Grove as the first protected wild lands in the country, and eventually led to creation of the national park system.
