Consumers could learn whether the furniture they buy contains potentially toxic flame retardant chemicals, under a bill approved by a State Senate committee. The Senate Environmental Quality Committee held a hearing on the safety and effectiveness of flame retardant chemicals, followed by a vote to approve a labeling measure by San Francisco Senator Mark Leno.
