Unemployment Benefit Delays Draw Lawmakers' Scrutiny

State lawmakers have begun an inquiry into problems with California’s unemployment insurance program, including computer glitches and problems that delayed unemployment checks for more than a hundred thousand unemployed workers. A hearing at the State Capitol heard from state officials who say major problems have been fixed, and from advocates and unemployed workers who say there are fundamental problems that hurt unemployed workers and poor communities.
