Transgender Students Law Could Face Ballot Referendum

California’s first in the nation law to protect transgender students could be on the ballot next year. Opponents of the measure, led by the mastermind of the Proposition 8 initiative, have turned in signatures to the Secretary of State to put a referendum on the November 2014 ballot to block the new law. If they succeed, the law could go on hold until next year’s general election. Christopher Martinez reports.
