Big Money in Runoff Election for Valley Senate Seat

Democrat and Republican donors have opened their wallets to candidates for California’s 16th District Senate seat in Tuesday’s upcoming runoff election. The southern San Joaquin Valley Senate position came up for grabs when incumbent Democrat Michael Rubio quit the Legislature to take a job with the Chevron Oil Company. The runoff became necessary when Republican Andy Vidak [ Vie – Dak pronounced like tie ] edged out Democrat Leticia Perez but did not garner 50 percent of the vote in the June election. Together, the candidates have spent nearly $3.5 million dollars in the race. Vic Bedoian reports from Fresno.
