Public access to government records moved forward in the state legislature Thursday, after the Assembly approved a measure preserving California’s “Public Records Act”, and the Senate backed down from threats to let the measure languish without a vote. It’s part of a tug-of-war over California’s sunshine law mandate on local governments, and who should pay for local governments to comply with the law.
