The major focus of the Bay Delta Conservation Plan is the proposed 37 mile peripheral tunnel that would divert Sacramento River water around the east side of the Delta and into the California’s water infrastructure for delivery to the rest of the state. The plan includes other methods of moving water around, while restoring the Delta ecosystem. State officials say they’re open to other options, but some critics of the BDCP are doubtful.
