Health advocates from around the Central Valley are calling on local authorities to help establish an emergency air alert system. The Central Valley Air Quality Coalition has launched an educational campaign to stimulate discussion and action at the county level. The Valley Air Board is in charge of air pollution-related public health warnings. It consists of regional officials plus a doctor and a scientist appointed by the governor.
