Coastal Commission Unanimously Rejects PG&E Project
After hearing hours of testimony from passionate environmentalists, Native Americans, and coastal residents, the California Coastal Commission unanimously voted to reject Pacific Gas & Electrics seismic imaging project off the coast of central California. PG&E's project was aimed at gaining better knowledge of the fault lines that lie near its Diablo Canyon nuclear plant in San Luis Obispo County. The State Lands Commission had approved the project. But activists continued to draw attention to what they said would be the catastrophic damage the project would cause to marine life in the area. Sally Schilling reports.
