Environmentalists Oppose PG&E's Seismic Survey

A proposed offshore seismic study by Pacific Gas and Electric has drawn opposition from numerous environmental groups and commercial fishermen.
PG&E wants to do a seismic study near its Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant on the central California coast. The company says the project will provide a better picture of the potential earthquake threats to the plant, which was built near several fault lines. Opponents say sending acoustic blasts into the ocean would cause severe damage to marine life.
