Class Action Lawsuit Over Illegal Detentions Filed Against LA County Sheriff

Six people who claim they were illegally detained have filed a class-action lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The men say they were illegally detained for days, weeks or months after they were entitled to be released. Sheriff’s officials say the individuals had immigration holds and therefore were ineligible for release or bail. The plaintiffs say their incarceration was the worst experience of their lives. They’re suing the Sheriff’s on behalf of the tens of thousands of offenders who they say have also been illegally detained.
