The University of California Regents have proposed a $1 million settlement in a lawsuit brought by students who were pepper-sprayed by UC Davis police during a protest. The November 18 incident gained national attention after a viral video showed a campus police officer pepper-spraying student protesters who were sitting on the ground. Under the settlement, the university would pay $30,000 to each of the 21 student plaintiffs. The settlement would also require the UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi to send written apologies to each of the victims. Sally Schilling reports.
