Investigators probing violence inside of Los Angeles County jails concluded that there exists a disturbing mindset among deputy guards. The pro-bono attorneys were tasked by the Citizen’s Commission on Jail Violence. They concluded that Sheriff Lee Baca and Undersheriff Paul Tanaka had knowledge of and even encouraged deputies to use violence against inmates. In response, a group of activists have set up their own list of demands suggesting that Office of Independent Review and the commission are ineffective and unable to stop the illegal conduct. Pacifica KPFK's Ernesto Arce has more from Los Angeles.
