Activists Blast Chevron Fire Response

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District held a hearing on the recent fire at the chevron oil refinery in Richmond, with presentations from Federal and State agencies, a statement from Chevron, and public comment from angry Richmond residents and environmental organizations. Activists are calling for better air monitoring, tougher regulation of the refinery, and a broader look at environmental health in one of the Bay Area’s most diverse communities in the midst of industrial polluters.
