Unionized workers with the early childhood Head Start program protested outside the Los Angeles headquarters of Volunteers of America (VOA) today. The faith-based non-profit VOA is taking over administration for Head Start at 11 locations around South Los Angeles. The workers delivered a petition signed by parents and staff to urge VOA not to take jobs away from qualified workers, and to involve staff and parents in its transition planning.
