A U.S. Supreme Court decision today against mandatory life sentences for youth under 18 still allows judges to impose the sentences on a case by case basis. The ruling does not apply to juveniles in California sentenced to life in prison. But state legislation currently under consideration would alter those prison terms. Ariel Goodman reports.
