San Jose, San Diego Vote Tuesday on Scaling Back Public Employee Pensions

Voters in the Silicon Valley's San Jose face ballot measure that would cut the pensions of current and future public employees. Mayor Chuck Reed proposed the measure. The city's pension vote could set a precedent for many other cities in California and in the rest of the country in a key test of a city's authority to reduce future pension costs despite earlier promises to employees.
