La Puente Family Faces Unusual Foreclosure

A Los Angeles County family is pleading with local officials to help stop their pending eviction from the home they’ve lived in for 40 years. Michelle and Salvador Lopez’s story is similar to that of thousands of current homeowners who face imminent removal from their homes by law enforcement. But the family says their story takes on a unique twist because they were actually approved for a loan modification. The seemingly endless list of banks that subsequently took over the loan refused to accept their payments. Now, bank officials tell the family they owe over $300,000 and are scheduled to be evicted on June 11.
