L.A. Marks 20th Anniversary Of L.A. Rebellion

Residents of South Los Angeles commemorated the 20th Anniversary of the 1992 Los Angeles Rebellion yesterday.On April 29 of that year, four Los Angeles Police Department officers were acquitted of charges connected with the brutal beating of Rodney King, which was caught on camera and shocked viewers around the world.Pacifica’s Ernesto Arce covered rallies on both the east and west side of the famed Florence and Normandie intersection where the unrest broke out. One was organized by the LAPD and its community partners, the other by activist groups who denounced what they called ongoing poverty, racism and police brutality.
