May Day Actions
San Francisco

No Golden Gate Bridge picket--protests move to ferry terminals. Organizers have called off plans for a rally in the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza to support workers in a contract fight.
   Instead, protesters will be supporting the same workers as they picket ferry terminals Exact picket locations have yet to be announced, but will include ferry locations in Larkspur, Sausalito, and the San Francisco Ferry Building. The Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District has already announced it will pre-emptively close ferry service until 2:15 PM.

10 AM immigrants rights rally at the 16th Street BART station.

11:AM protest in solidarity with janitors and retail workers in front of the Westfield Mall at 5th and Market.

4:30PM public-sector workers rally agains "downtown greed" inside City Hall until “they kick us out.”

San Jose

2:PM rally for workers' and immigrants rights in the Target parking lot at the corner of Story and King.

Oakland

8:30 "flying pickets" departing from the following locations:
  • Snow Park. An anti-capitalist block aimes to shut down banks, the Chamber of Commerce, the headquarters of Bay Area Rapid Transit, and Whole Foods.
  • 1st and Broadway. An anti-patriarchy groupwill try to shut down the local offices of Child Protective Services.
  • 22nd and Telegraph An anti-gentrification groupsays they'll be targeting small businesses, nonprofits, and business associations.
11:AM rally to support striking nurses at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley.

12:PM Mass Rally in Frank Ogawa Plaza.

1:PM Occupy the Banks group gathering in front of the Citibank at 14th and Broadway – they say they’ll try to shut down multiple banks in the downtown area.

1:PM Occupy Oakland’s Anti-Repression Committee will stage protest against stay-away orders at city hall.

3:PM immigrants' rights "march for dignity and resistance" beginning in Fruitvale Plaza, and marching to city hall. This march has a city-issued permit.

6:PM main rally in Frank Ogawa Plaza. This rally has a city-issued permit that lasts until 7:PM.

Santa Rosa

The local occupy group is promising to shut down any bank that doesn’t close its doors and pay its workers for the day. No time or location specified.

11:AM mic check against state budget cuts, Court House Square

6:AM SEIU strike at Los Angeles International Airport.

7:AM Occupy Pasadena Rally at the Lake Avenue Overpass on the 210, which will then march to the Lake and Colorado bank cluster.

10:AM "Four Winds"
Four caravans will leave from different parts of the city that will participate in multiple demonstrations and direct actions on their way to converge at 6:th and Main at 2:30 PM.
  • West. Demonstrators will gather at Ocean and Wilshire in Santa Monica at 10:AM. At 11:30 they’ll rally outside the Veterans Affairs building at Wilshire and Federal. At 12, there will be a direct action at Rodeo Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard in Beverly Hills. At 12:30, they’ll protest the bank of America at Wilshire and Labrea. At 1:30, they’ll rally at MacArthur Park. And from there they’ll march to the main convergence at 6:th and Main, which is scheduled to take place at 2:30 PM.
  • East. Protesters will gather at Cesar Chavez and Atlantic at 10:AM for a speak-out against police brutality. At noon, they’ll have another speak-out in Obregon Park. At 1:PM, they’ll rally for healthcare in Mariachi Park, then take the metro to downtown’s Union Station and march from there to the main convergence at 6th and main.
  • South. Protesters will gather at 10:AM at CSU Dominguez Hills. At 11:15, they’ll rally at 112th and central; at 11:45, they’ll rally at Ted Watkins Park; at 12:30, they’ll rally at 41st and Central; at 1:30 they’ll rally at Figueroa and Washington, before marching to the main convergence at 6th and main.
  • North. Protesters will start at 7:AM, at Panorama High School, then march to 7915 Van Nuys Boulevard for a vegan breakfast served by Hermandad Mexicana. At 11:AM they’ll rally at the van Nuys Civic Center. At 12:30, they’ll be at Van Nuys and Oxnard. At 1:45, Placita Olvera, and then they’ll join the main convergence at 6th and Main.
11:AM rally against poor treatment of workers at American Reclamation, at 4560 Doran St.

4:PM immigrants rights rally at Olympic & Broadway.

7:PM General Assembly at Pershing Square.
