Filipino-American activists gathered in Los Angeles last night for a forum to discuss problems facing their communities here in the U.S. and back at home. Alliance Philippines says the poor treatment of Filipino World War II veterans, poverty, political persecution and what it calls the gross undercount of Filipino-Americans during the 2010 U.S. census count are all pressing issues. It urged activism and unity among Filipinos in the US and support for those fighting for justice, equality and lasting peace in the Philippines.Ernesto Arce was in LA’s historic Filipinotown where he filed this report.
