Students Ask Federal Court To Overturn Affirmative Action Ban

Latino, African-American and Native American students asked a federal appeals court panel to overturn the section of Proposition 209 which bans the state's public universities from using affirmative action in admissions. The students, backed by civil rights groups, said the affirmative action ban as led to the disproportionate exclusion of students of color from the state's most prestigious public universities. Christopher Martinez filed this report.
