Leaders of Los Angeles’ Mexican community are calling on Mexican officials to secure an expatriate’s right to vote in that country’s presidential elections. Los Angeles-based activists welcomed the news but denounced what they say is the Mexican government’s indifference to reach out to a key demographic: the estimated 4 to 5 million Mexicans living in the U.S. who still hold Mexican citizenship and the right to vote in that country’s elections.
