L.A. City Council Panel Wants Reforms Of Truancy Fines

A Los Angeles coalition is calling for an end to a city policy that imposes stiff fines on students for truancy. Students late for class have even been fined when they were within a block of their schools. An organization of formerly incarcerated youth says criminalization of young people starts with their push out of school. Ernesto Arce reports.
