Underground Economy Targeted In L.A.

The State Board of Equalization is working in partnership with labor organizations
to form a task force to combat the underground economy. The group met in Los Angeles this morning to discuss ways to claim some $8 billion lost to individuals and businesses that conceal their tax liabilities from the government. Labor officials say the biggest culprits are large contractors who hire independent workers but fail to report their labor. Ernesto Arce files this report from Los Angeles.
