The Salvadoran community in Los Angeles is celebrating an announcement
by the Obama administration that extends TPS, Temporary Protected
Status, to more than 200,000 Salvadoran visa holders living in the
U.S. Community leaders gathered at the offices of El Rescate in the city’s
Pico-Union neighborhood this morning to discuss the extension. They
also gave their reactions to Obama’s executive order to
stop the deportation of some undocumented immigrants who have begun the
so-called naturalization process. Ernesto Arce files this report from Los Angeles.
