LAUSD Says It Will Sue State Over School Transport Cuts

The Los Angeles Unified School District plans to sue the state in hopes of blocking a planned $38 million cut to the district's transportation program. Governor Jerry Brown made the announcement this morning citing the state’s lower than expected revenue. LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy says the cutback would force massive cuts in classroom spending in order for the district to meet federal and court-ordered mandates for busing students. Dozens of students from a Los Angeles magnet school walked out of classes this morning after learning about the cuts. Ernesto Arce has more from Los Angeles.
